Different Types of Schizophrenia

I was reading online articles and came across an interesting article from the Medicinenet.com website in regards to the different types of schizophrenia.  The following is an excerpt from the Medicinenet.com website:

What are the different types of schizophrenia?

There are five types of schizophrenia, each based on the kind of symptoms the person has at the time of assessment.
  • Paranoid schizophrenia
  • Disorganized schizophrenia
  • Catatonic schizophrenia
  • Undifferentiated schizophrenia
  • Residual schizophrenia

Electroconvulsive Therapy-ECT

Hey everyone.  Was curious about other people's experiences with Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) for treatment of their depression/disorders.  I personally have had at least 35 ECT treatments over the last few years.  Without a doubt, I can say that I have noticed an improvement over where I was mentally/emotionally 2 years ago.  I still have days where I have deep depression but there are fewer of these days.  The only side effects I have experienced are soreness in my jaw and brief memory loss of events that occurred on the day before and day of the treatment.

I would really enjoy hearing about your ECT experiences, side effects and if it has helped you.

Welcome to the launch of my newest mental health blog

I just want to take the opportunity to thank you for visiting my newest mental health blog on Schizophrenia and available treatments.  While I have not been diagnosed with Schizophrenia and I am not a doctor, I have been diagnosed as having bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).  So I will be posting from the perspective of a person suffering from mental disorders with an interest in other disorders such as Schizophrenia.
